Hellooo! I haven't posted in a while - sorry! - but school has been majorly busy and stressful, what with the year being almost over and such... But I'm posting now, despite my still slightly damp nail polish. Because I really want to discuss this topic, and make sure I'm not alone. So screw you, still-tacky nail polish!
Anywayy... Character complications! Maybe not all complications. But injuries. Internal struggle. Weakness. Not death, but that character's "cross" to bear. That is what we are here to cogitate. I just love it. Am I the only one? I adore the idea that our favorite characters have some extra weakness, or injury. Something that should be incapacitating, but isn't, not for them. I love that characters can have like a broken wrist or ankle (*hem* Annabeth *hem*) or a power that drains them, like, majorly, that they can't do anything for hours after, and they can still be totally bad-a. I love that characters can be fighting some inconceivable internal struggle, and still manage to be level-headed and completely in-control, and not let anyone see what they're going through. I love it. Because the fact that they have that weakness and nobody else knows, or only a couple people know, and they can hide it, despite the amount of pain it's causing, for the greater good, to keep morale up, to keep people safe, makes my favorite characters that much stronger. That they can remain completely the same on the outside when they are being torn apart on the inside, that they can fight with a sword or whatever (I don't know) with a broken wrist, just so that no one notices, makes them so much better. I don't know. I've been reading fan fiction - good fan fiction, no worries - and it's Percy Jackson fanfic, of course, and just... There are people stepping up, you know? Like struggles, physical and mental, and everything, and they don't show it, because they don't want others to be worried.
Sorry, that was mostly ramble. But tell me whatcha think!! I need comments! I want to know that people are taking this stuff in. Or at least enjoying it. Or, at the very least, relating.
Until next post,
Good luck in life, happy watching, happy reading!
